United States Armed Forces Active Duty Military PersonnelVehicles owned by members of the Armed Forces may furnish a policy or bond from an out-of-state insurance company indicating they meet insurance requirements. The form must indicate the vehicle is covered by liability insurance. Active duty military personnel must be a tribal citizen. The U.S. Armed Forces Affidavit found in the downloadable forms page must be completed. The affidavit must be signed by a commanding officer unless the service member is serving in a foreign country and the service member’s spouse is registering the vehicle.
Former MilitaryVehicles owned by a former military service person (tribal citizen) are required to submit a copy of their DD214, or a certification letter from the Oklahoma Department of Veterans’ Affairs verifying service in the United States Armed Forces
100 Percent Disabled Veteran Sales Tax Exemption Card Any vehicle purchased by a tribal citizen who has been honorably discharged from active service in any branch or Armed Forces of the United States or the Oklahoma National Guard and who has been certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, its successor, or the Armed Forces of the United States to be a disabled veteran in receipt of compensation at the one-hundred percent (100%) rate for a permanent disability sustained through military action or accident resulting from disease contracted while in such service shall be exempt from registration tax. The exemption may be claimed on only one (1) vehicle in a consecutive three (3) year period by any single qualifying veteran. The exemption applies to motor vehicle only. Boat/Motors do not apply. The exemption does not apply to surviving spouses of qualified veterans. The qualifying veteran must be listed on the title as an owner of the vehicle. The vehicle must have been purchased on or after June 19, 2006. The Veteran must present their Sales Tax Exemption Card.
Recipients of Medals of Honor - Veteran of Foreign War – POWVehicles owned by recipients of Bronze or Silver Stars, Veterans of Foreign War, or POW (tribal citizen) are required to submit a copy of their DD214 or a certification letter from the Oklahoma Department of Veterans’ Affairs verifying service in the United States Armed Forces.
Other Veteran DiscountsODVA Form 599 is a reduced licensing charge card that must be presented upon registration. This allows the tribal citizen who is also a veteran to register as well as renew a total of two (2) vehicles with a carrying capacity of one (1) ton or less. See a sample of the card below.
