2025 Cherokee Nation Car Tag Compact FAQ
Rules & Fees in this section apply to At-Large citizens in Oklahoma.
The Excise Tax and Tag Fees will be the same as the State.
Things to know before applying for rebates through the Gadugi Portal
For a recent or new purchase, the Citizen will need the properly assigned Title or MSO, Bill of Sale, Lien Release if the title has a lien on it (a very important document that is overlooked at times), Tribal Citizenship card, and Valid Oklahoma insurance verification for that vehicle.
If transferring from Oklahoma to Cherokee Nation, the Citizen will need Oklahoma Title, Lien Release if the title has a lien on it (a very important document that is overlooked at times) – if the lien is not released we can look up lien information then carry this information forward, Tribal Citizenship card, Valid Oklahoma insurance verification for that vehicle.
Proof of residence will not be required for citizens registering "At Large", but must be a resident of Oklahoma.

Cherokee Nation Citizens will be required to have a Valid Oklahoma driver's license.
At Large Citizens will have the option of (1) one or (2) two-year registration at the time of original registration and/or renewal. Two insurance fees will be charged if the citizen chooses a two-year registration.
If registering by mail please include a signed notarized copy of the CHEROKEE NATION APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF TITLE which can be found in the downloadable forms section.
